DJ Lowrie is a painter who is hugely influenced by where she lives. The ever-changing Suffolk sky dominates her work and visually it is the necessary poetry to her life.

The work is less about identifiable and literal representation but more an instinctive and spiritual response to the essential essence of the atmospheric subject.

She starts initially with drawing. It underpins everything she does and is a legacy from her Byam Shaw tutors Oliver Bevan and Nathan Cohen. Through these drawings she explores the relationship of the land and sea to the dramatic coastal skies above her.

Since graduating as a mature student in 1993 DJ Lowrie has exhibited in galleries in Surrey and Hampshire and more latterly in West and East Suffolk
