About Furniture Magpies

Furniture Magpies is a furniture ‘design and make’ company offering an alternative to mass-produced products and specialising in regenerating old furniture to meet the requirements of the modern consumer. It creates one-off and limited edition pieces, breathing new life into otherwise unwanted items.

“In our work we strive to retain the character and story of the furniture that we use, affording the user an insight into their item’s original identity. We don’t believe in good furniture going to landfill when it can be redesigned into a piece that people can love all over again.”

Furniture Magpies is made up of a small team of designer-makers headed by directors Nessa Doran O’Reilly, Sivan Metzer and Sua Lee. Located in a town once famed for being the centre of the British furniture manufacturing industry, Furniture Magpies is perfectly poised to capitalise on a rich supply of pieces that retain quality of construction and make use of materials which are seldom found in today’s mass-produced furniture; pieces that have for one reason or another, been discarded. The company then focuses on breathing new life into these disused items by not only improving them aesthetically but also considering how they could function more effectively in today’s domestic environment. By combining these old components with new and vintage fabrics, as well as using some traditional techniques such as deep button upholstery, they create pieces with a distinctive and contemporary twist.

Due to the nature of reusing existing furniture and reclaimed materials, consumers can be confident that each piece is entirely individual and sold as a unique item.

Delivery

While delivery will usually be within 2-5 days, because all of our items are bespoke and made to order by our artists/designers, delivery may take up to six weeks. We will confirm expected delivery once your order has been received.
