Richard Brendon: Details from Willow Range
Richard Brendon: Details from Willow Range
£15.00
During the 19th and 20th Century Willow Pattern was the most popular ceramic pattern in the UK. Due to a decline in popularity charity shops and car boot sales have become graveyards for the once popular Willow Pattern, which is considered by many, as overly ornate. In his new collection, “Details from Willow”, Richard Brendon has observed the many beautiful elements within this traditional pattern. By photographing details from old pieces of Willow Pattern crockery, the designer has created ceramic transfers, which are applied to English fine bone china and produced in Stoke-on-Trent. This collection brings Willow Pattern into the 21st Century, giving it longevity by modernizing the pattern so that it can survive another two centuries in people’s homes. The small, familiar details ensure this china is at home in a country cottage, where it evokes a sense of nostalgia, as well as a modern city apartment, where the simple circular details set against brilliant white china brings a reassured sense of style.
